David Cerny bought a bus dated 1957 from an owner of the Netherlands, Cerny a Czech artist has re-modelled this traditional London double-decker bus into a athlete mechanical sculpture doing push-ups with the help of an engine powering a pair of robotic arms, and the motion is accompanied by a recording of sounds evoking tough physical effort. It will be parked outside the Czech Olympic headquarters in London for the duration of the Games. Push-ups to celebrate the Olympic Games opening in the British capital on Friday. The bus is installed outside the Czech Olympic House in London.
De Tsjechische kunstenaar, David Cerny, transformeerde een oude bus Londense dubbeldekker voor de Olympische Spelen van 2012 in Londen in een wel hele bijzondere publiekstrekker The Londen Boosted, een bus die push-ups doet, hij kocht het exemplaar uit 1957 van een Nederlander. Vervolgens rustte hij het rode voertuig uit met gigantische gespierde armen. Daarmee doet de loodzware bus zijn oefeningen, ook zijn er geluidseffecten toegevoegd waardoor je de bus hoort steunen en kreunen tijdens de push-ups. Push-ups is de enige oefening die alle sporters doen,daarmee is het een erg universele fysieke activiteit, het kunstwerk is in het olympisch dorp geplaatst, vlakbij de plek waar de Tsjechische ploeg logeert.
